Who are you?
What does it feel like to be autistic?
How did you start playing tuba?
Since I have Asperger’s, I was considered delicate, not raised for strenuous, competitive, stressful things. Fortunately, a band director was too “ignorant” to realize autistics are hopeless cases. She saw in me a bright, anxious child, eager to learn, willing to work hard, not a tragedy. After failures on other instruments, she decided to try me on tuba.
Who do you play for?
It depends. I drop in places, perform on street corners, and can usually be found with these people:
I play Oakland Cemetery events every chance I get.
What do you play?
Under what circumstances will you shout at me?
