Hey, I was doing some research on social disabilities, mostly because I have been reading your blog, and was wondering how you felt about the accuracy of the Autism Spectrum Quotient test, whether or not it is accurate or just a load of bull. The authors cited a score of 32 or more as indicating "clinically significant levels of autistic traits". I personally scored a 33. I realize it is not meant for diagnosis but as a simple test to see if there may be a reason to pursue further testing.

I only saw it once. I like it that they tested it on autistic people. I got a 34. I wish there had been more questions on sensory issues. There seemed to be few on that topic. I would have to know more about their method of constructing it to give it a good critique. It seems fine as a tool to help people see if they show enough traits that learning more could be useful. Given the difficulty and expense of accessing healthcare, especially here in the U.S., I am glad free tests exist as a preliminary step toward research or diagnosis.
