Okay I have aspergers

some of you fellow aspies piss me off

because honestly? If I could I WOULD want a cure.

Im sure many others feel the same way

hating on someone for wanting a cure doesnt make them wrong

and hating on every fucking allistic person for not being 100% fully educated on aspergers is bullshit.

There are many allistic allies and many allistics who try their best to support even if they dont fully fucking know every detail about aspergers

stop with the self righteous bullshit and get over yourself

You have the right to want a cure.  I doubt it will happen.  If they found a way to restructure your brain, I would think it was your right to use it.  My only concern is that parents would use it on young children.  Mine did everything they could to make me ‘normal.’  I would like everyone to have a free, informed choice.

The important thing for allistics to realize is that not every autistic person online is there to educate.  Some just want camaraderie.  It would work better if people understood that some, but not all, autistics will teach.

I agree with you on some of the shouting.  Writing people off as scum oversimplifies our problems.  Hostility toward trolls, well-meaning individuals who insist they know more about our best interests than we do, the willfully ignorant, and allistics who invade autistic safe spaces is reasonable.  Furry as an initial response isolates us.  It is a simple solution to a complex problem.  Our adversaries are mostly not monsters we can banish from our lives.  They are often our own families.  We can do without them as a last resort, but few initially want that.  Many are profoundly prejudiced in areas and compassionate in others.  They are flawed, complex humans who may improve if they have the courage to acknowledge their need.  We need a nuanced approach.  Plain evil requires uncompromising confrontation.  It is rare.  Ignorance, unconsciously held stereotypes, unrecognized privilege, and fear of confronting oppressive aspects of one’s life are common.  That merits a different response than reheated eugenics.  Nuance is pragmatic and humane.
