I want to do something but I’m not sure what. Would it be stupid for me to go stand around and hand out stuff explaining what’s wrong with Autism Speaks? I don’t understand whether these events are organized by Autism Speaks or if someone in the community organizes the event. If I knew who it was, I would just try to talk to them and ask why Autism Speaks over some other organization.
It would not be stupid. ASAN has a flyer you can print. Check your printer cartridge well in advance. That was my mistake. Ours, in Atlanta, were in unintended colors this year. Check local laws on what you plan to do. Decide in advance what kinds of consequences you are willing to incur. Have an idea of what you will say. Bring friends. Doing it alone is hard. Shout loudly. Sound like you mean it.
