So, a woman with Down’s syndrome wrote President Obama a letter explaining why she supports him, and why she takes issue with Mitt Romney’s infamous “47%” comment.  The Obama campaign features said letter on its website.

And conservatives are up in arms because this is “exploitative.”

Because apparently people with Down Syndrome can’t have political opinions of their own—or expect to be a part of public political discourse. 

Gah.  I hate this kind of rhetoric which pretends to care about people with disabilities, while in actuality denying that PWD can be autonomous citizens who make their own choices and don’t need to be coddled by people who “know what’s best for them.”
